Injured running back Joe Mixon remains unavailable to the Houston Texans today, as DeMeco Ryans’ men face the Buffalo Bills in Week 5 of the NFL season.

Mixon, who was unable to take part in practice this week, is listed as out on Houston’s official injury report.

What injury does Mixon have?

An off-season signing in a trade with the Cincinnati Bengals, the 28-year-old hasn’t played for the Texans since hurting his ankle in the Week 2 win over the Chicago Bears on September 15.

In a press conference on Tuesday, Texans head coach Ryans offered no precise timeline on Mixon’s return to action, telling reporters that the former Oklahoma Sooners player’s recovery is progressing “day to day”.

Houston head into the weekend with a 3-1 record in 2024, thanks to wins over the Indianapolis Colts, the Bears and the Jacksonville Jaguars. Their only defeat so far this season came in Week 3, when they went down to the Minnesota Vikings.

Also 3-1 after four games, the Bills go to Texas on the back of a Week 4 loss to the Baltimore Ravens.
