Leonard Williams is one of four major defensive players who will be unavailable to the Seattle Seahawks today, as Mike Mcdonald’s men take on the Detroit Lions in Monday Night Football.

What injury does Leonard Williams have?

Defensive lineman Williams has been unable to practice all week after suffering a rib injury in the Seahawks’ 24-3 win over the Miami Dolphins last Sunday - a victory that took Seattle to 3-0 so far in the 2024 regular season.

DL Byron Murphy II (hamstring) and outside linebacker Boye Mafe (knee) have also dropped out of contention for selection, joining OL Uchenna Nwosu on the sidelines. Nwosu hasn’t played at all for Seattle this term, having sustained a knee injury during preseason.

“That’s four more guys that are going to be up”

Asked about the absence of a quartet of key defensive individuals, Macdonald told a news conference this weekend: “We’ve got four guys that are down, [but] that’s four more guys that are going to be up. I’m looking forward to seeing those guys play. When you talk about having depth on your football team, you want the feeling to be, ‘OK, I can’t wait to see whoever is going to get that opportunity now.’ That’s our view, that guys are going to have more opportunities than they’ve usually had, and I’m looking forward to seeing what they do.”

In better fitness news for the Seahawks, Macdonald told reporters that running back Kenneth Walker III is “good to go” to return to action against the Lions. Walker sat out Weeks 2 and 3 with an abdominal injury, but was a full participant in practice on Saturday.
