Why isn’t Taylor Swift performing at the 2024 Super Bowl halftime show and who will sing?
There are few bigger artists than Swift and few bigger events than the Super Bowl Halftime show, but the singer won’t be performing at the game this year.
Taylor Swift has been constantly linked with Super Bowl Halftime Show. Even before the singer confirmed her relationship with Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce, her name was constantly being talked about in the same breath as biggest sporting event in the world.
At the end of 2022, swifties were betting that Taylor would star at the Super Bowl’s musical interlude after Apple Music announced it would be the new sponsor of the Halftime Show and Swift has collaborated with the brand on a number of occasions. What’s more, the announcement came right at midnight, which was taken as a nod to TS’s ‘Midnights’. However, those rumors proved unfounded as Apple went with Rihanna.
Why Taylor Swift is not performing at the 2024 Super Bowl halftime show?
The following year, Taylor Swift’s name continued to be linked to the iconic show. However, the rumors came to an end when the superstar announced she would be on her own international tour for much of 2023 and 2024, which would prevent her from immersing herself in a project as demanding as the Halftime Show. Swift’s priority has been to take The Eras Tour around the world.
In fact, her most recent round of concerts are right around Super Bowl LVIII. The ‘Karma’ singer will resume The Eras Tour starting next Wednesday, February 7. She’s then giving three concerts in Tokyo, Japan, on February 8, 9 and 10, so her presence at the Super Bowl to support Travis Kelce and the Chiefs is still not certain. It’s a long round trip to get to Las Vegas and then on to Melbourne for her next concert.
Who will sing at the Super Bowl LVIII Halftime Show?
In September 2023, Apple Music revealed the star in charge of the Super Bowl LVIII halftime show: Usher. The R&B singer was chosen to offer a 13-minute halftime show. Although this is the first time Usher will star the event, the truth is that it will be his second appearance on the Super Bowl stage. His first appearance was in 2011, as a special guest of The Black Eyed Peas. At that time, he performed ‘OMG’, in the company of will.i.am.
