Why isn’t Trent Williams playing for the 49ers against the Packers in week 12? When will he be back?
Three-time All-Pro Williams travelled to Green Bay but will ultimately join Brock Purdy and Nick Bosa on the sidelines after being ruled inactive.
Already without quarterback Brock Purdy and defensive linesman Nick Bosa, the San Francisco 49ers have been dealt a further blow in the build-up to Sunday’s game against the Green Bay Packers, with offensive linesman Trent Williams being officially ruled as inactive just before the game.
Trent Williams ruled inactive for 49ers vs Packers
The 36-year-old had been doubtful all week because of an ankle problem but there was hope he would be fit to play after he travelled with the rest of the team to Green Bay.
However, Williams, who shook off the issue to participate in last weekend’s defeat to the Seahawks, will ultimately join Purdy and Bosa on the sidelines for the game.
The three-time All-Pro has been struggling with the injury for a couple of weeks, although the fact he was deemed to be in contention to play against the Packers suggests he isn’t too far away from fitness and could be available for the Week 13 game against the Bills.
There have, though, been no official updates from the 49ers on the length of Williams’ absence as yet.
