Why isn’t Wanya Morris playing for the Chiefs against the Dolphins in the Wild Card game?

When the reigning Super Bowl champions take on the Dolphins this weekend, they will do so without one of their more experienced players.

All things considered, the Chiefs are in good shape when we consider the stage of the season at which we are at. Yet, one has to feel that the absence of the veteran defensive player will be felt - much like the cold - when they face the Dolphins this weekend.

The Chiefs will have to do without Wanya Morris

The good news for the Chiefs is that despite the concerns about left tackle, Donovan Smith, earlier this week, he has since returned to practice and was a full participant on Thursday after recovering from a neck injury. The bad news, however, is that the team’s final injury report indicates that left tackle Wanya Morris has been ruled out because he did not clear the league’s concussion protocol. To be fair, this was expected but it is a blow to the Chiefs nonetheless. This marks the second game that Smith’s backup will be sidelined.

In terms of how this affects the team, we can expect to see veteran Joe Thuney moving back to his normal position with the return of Smith, while Creed Humphrey will return to center after replacing Thuney at left guard in the Chiefs’ last game. As for the other injury designations, wide receivers Justyn Ross (hamstring) and Kadarius Toney (hip/ankle), were both listed as questionable but word on the street is they are expected to play.
