The once sensational running back has found himself in the news, but unfortunately not for the right kind of reason.

According to reports on Wednesday, Former NFL running back Frank Gore was charged with simple assault following his arrest back on July 31st in Atlantic City, New Jersey, for what was an alleged domestic violence dispute with a 28-year-old woman.

As per the Atlantic City Police Department, “On July 31, 2022, at 8:11 AM, patrol units were dispatched to Tropicana Atlantic City for a report of a domestic violence dispute. ...Officers arrived to find the victim, a 28-year-old woman from Miami, Florida, speaking with hotel security. The victim did not exhibit signs of injury and complaints were not filed at the time. However, an ensuing investigation resulted in Franklin Gore being charged with simple assault related to the domestic violence incident.”

Who is Frank Gore?

Considered one of the best RBs of all time, the 16-year NFL veteran enjoyed stints with the San Francisco 49ers, Indianapolis Colts, Buffalo Bills, Miami Dolphins and New York Jets, before finally he signing a one-day contract in June with San Francisco, so he could retire as a 49ers player. With a total of 16,000 career rushing yards - a thousand for each season of his career - Gore walked away from the game as the third highest rusher in NFL history.

Incidentally, Gore was also recently in the news after he announced that he would be pursuing a career in the boxing ring. To that end, he had his first official fight against former NBA star Deron Williams in an exhibition match in December of last year. Unfortunately for Gore, he didn’t get off to a good start as he lost by decision. The former NFL star made amends, however, when he took on and defeated Yaya Olorunsola by knockout back on May 14th. As per reports, Gore who is now 39 years old will have his initial court hearing in October of this year.
