Why was Minnesota Vikings wide receiver Jordan Addison arrested?
Though details continue to emerge, what we can understand is that the Vikings’ pass catcher was not conscious when the accident in he was involved occurred.
As the Minnesota Vikings begin their preparations for the coming campaign, they may have to do so without the services of one of their key offensive players after he was implicated in an accident on suspicision of DUI. Needless to say, this is not a good look.
Vikings’ Jordan Addison arrested on DUI
According to reports, Minnesota Vikings wide receiver Jordan Addison was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence late on Friday night. It is understood that the Los Angeles Communications Center notified the California Highway Patrol of a disabled vehicle blocking a lane of traffic on the Glen Anderson (105) Freeway near Los Angeles International Airport. As per reports, officers approached a white Rolls Royce with the driver asleep behind the wheel, with a California Highway Patrol spokesperson later confirming that the driver was asleep when officers arrived.
Addison was arrested at approximately 11:36 p.m. following a DUI investigation, per the report, and was subsequently released at 1:36 a.m. on Saturday morning. Where the franchise itself is concerned, a statement was released in which Addison’s situation was acknowledged. “We are aware of Jordan Addison’s arrest this past Friday and are currently gathering more information regarding the incident,” the Vikings said in a statement. Now, it’s worth noting that this is not the first time Addison has had a brush with the law, and what’s worse is that his previous offense was also related to his handling of a vehicle.
Indeed, just last summer Addison was pulled over in Minnesota with officers citing him for speeding and reckless driving after he was clocked at 140 miles per hour while driving in a 55-mph zone. On that occasion, the 22-year-old said he was driving at that speed due to an emergency involving his dog, though he later pleaded guilty to a misdemeanor speeding charge and paid a fine. This of course brings us to the reality of the situation i.e. with 70 receptions, 911 yards, and 10 touchdowns in his rookie season, Addison is a potential threat in the making i.e., his off-field conduct does not bode well for any hopes the Vikings might have for him going forward. On the other hand, with training camp set to begin on July 27th, and no criminal charges being pressed, there is still time to get an understandably talented player to understand that talent alone is not enough to be a success in the NFL.
