Update:

The Jacksonville Jaguars and Carolina Panthers were in just the second quarter of their season opener on Sunday when the game was suspended due to weather.

Why the Jaguars-Panthers are delayed

The game was played in Jacksonville, Florida at EverBank Stadium. Lightning was spotted in the area, so the game remained suspended until it cleared.

When the lightning was spotted and the game stopped, the Jaguars had just taken a 10-3 lead. Trevor Lawrence threw a pass to Hunter Long for the 6-yard touchdown, which followed a an interception thrown by Panthers quarterback Bryce Young (caught by linebacker Foyesade Oluokun).

The Jaguars lookied good on offense and rookie Travis Hunter is in at wide receiver.

This is the second delayed game due to weather in Week 1 so far. The Philadelphia Eagles vs Dallas Cowboys game was delayed for exactly the same reason on Thursday night. That time, the delay lasted just over an hour.

The Jaguars-Panthers game resumed at around 3:10 p.m.ET after being delayed for over an hour.
