In a move that takes some shine off of his team’s well-deserved win in Wisconsin, the Titans OC has found himself on the wrong side of the law.

Titans’ Todd Downing arrested on DUI charge

According to reports, Tennessee Titans offensive coordinator Todd Downing was arrested for DUI just hours after the Titans’ win over Green Bay on Thursday night. It is understood, that Downing was arrested by the Tennessee Highway Patrol in Williamson County in the early hours of Friday morning. Following his detainment, he was cited for driving under the influence and speeding. Downing was subsequently booked into the Williamson County jail at approximately 4:30 a.m. and later released at 7:00 a.m.

What are the details of Todd Downing’s situation?

Regarding what exactly happened on the night, the arresting officer indicated that he pulled Downing over having seen his vehicle traveling at a high rate of speed. Upon closer inspection, the officer noted that Downing’s car smelled of intoxicants. As a point of context, Flight Aware’s platform indicates that the Titans’ team plane departed Green Pay minutes after midnight CT and landed in Nashville at approximately 2:07 a.m. It is understood, that Downing was stopped by police at around 2:30 a.m.

Who is Todd Downing?

At 42 years-old, Todd Downing in his second season with the Titans as an offensive coordinator. Previously, he served as the team’s tight ends coach, but was later moved to the position of OC following Arthur Smith’s move to the Atlanta Falcons, where he became head coach. On the whole, Downing has been in the league since 2005. During that time, he’s seen time with seven different teams, including the Rams, the Bills, the Vikings - twice - and even the Raiders who were at the time based in Oakland. Where his present team is concerned, the Titans - as mentioned above - just got themselves a big win in Green Bay. Now on a record of 7-3, they lead the AFC South and by all indications aren’t about to stop. QB Ryan Tannehill threw for 333 yards, while running back Derrick Henry had a legendary night and even threw a three-yard TD pass - you read that right - near the goal line.
