The NFL schedule is a carefully designed house of matchups, rotations, and strategic planning. While fans eagerly anticipate classic rivalries, not all teams play against each other every season. The NFL follows a predeterminedformula for matchups.
Each team plays six games against divisional opponents and just four games from teams from a division within its conference, with the latter teams rotating every three years. This year, the Packers and Cowboys do not line up in the rotation (as much as Dallas would love to have their chance at revenge). They could, of course, meet again in the postseason, in which case the Cowboys would be happy to have their shot at redemption.
The league occasionally schedules international games to promote football globally. In 2024, the Eagles kick off their season against the Packers in Brazil. This exciting matchup takes precedence over a regular-season clash.
