Why you should draft Cowboys WR George Pickens in Fantasy Football
The Dallas Cowboys’ newest wide receiver could be considered a gamble, but what he’s done so far at training camp should have fantasy managers on notice.

When the Dallas Cowboys acquired wide receiver George Pickens from the Pittsburgh Steelers this offseason, it was met with some mixed reactions due to his behavioral issues and lower performance last season. But for the most part, feedback was positive as he’s clearly a talented player and potentially just what CeeDee Lamb needs along side him.
Since training camp began, the negative seems to have completely fallen by the wayside as Pickens has overshadowed it with his outstanding performance.

George Pickens: Fantasy star in the making?
Pickens wasted no time making waves at Cowboys training camp, and fantasy football managers should be paying close attention. He’s currently creating buzz daily for his highlight-reel grabs. And more importantly, he’s finally in a situation that can unlock his full potential.
Cowboys coach Brian Schottenheimer on George Pickens: “From the time we got George and we went in my office and spent some time together, shot some free throws and just talked and got to know each other, he made it very clear, he was like, ‘Coach, I’m thrilled to be here, No. 1.… pic.twitter.com/ndFPu4ibPE

With quarterback Dak Prescott’s deep-ball accuracy, a pass-heavy offense under new head coach Brian Schottenheimer, and a depleted Dallas defense, the setup is ripe for weekly shootouts. That means big opportunities for Pickens, especially with Lamb drawing heavy coverage on the opposite side.
Statistically, Pickens already showed elite field-stretching traits in Pittsburgh, ranking among the top in air yards and end-zone targets. But inconsistent quarterback play and a run-heavy scheme capped his upside. Now in Dallas, he could smash his WR30 average draft position (ADP) and emerge as a fantasy league-winner.
At 6′3″ with elite contested-catch ability and a new shift in focus, Pickens is reportedly earning the respect of teammates and quickly building chemistry with Lamb. If you’re looking for a breakout star at a value in your fantasy draft, this could be the year George Pickens takes off.
