Why’s Tom Brady so bothered by the Patriots return to red?
Apparently the former Patriots star keeps tabs on his old team and it would seem he doesn’t like their choice in clothing.
It’s been quite some time since ‘New England’s finest’ played in red and rest assured the move has turned quite a few heads.
Tom Brady has some thoughts on the Patriots switching to red
According to reports on Wednesday, the New England Patriots will be making a return to the iconic red uniforms for the the 2022 NFL regular season. Now while the news in itself is worth a look, what makes it even more so is that one famous former Patriot definitely took notice and then made his feelings known.
Tom Brady, the vote for GOAT in the NFL spent some 20 years with the Patriots and never got to play in the famous red. To be fair, since 1994 when the Patriots donned the iconic jersey, the team has only worn it on 12 occasions. so Brady is part of a long list. That being said, the legendary quarterback didn’t shy away from making it clear that he was a little jealous when the team made its announcement. Indeed, the last time that Brady got to wear the red was back in 2012. Brady wasted no time in taking to social media where he posted a reference to his desire to have worn the jersey one more time, using a clip of actor Jim Carry in ‘Liar Liar.’
What’s the big deal with Tom Brady and the red Pats jersey?
To be frank, Brady played one of the best games of his entire career while wearing the red. It was back in 2009, when Brady threw five touchdown passes in just the first quarter to lead the Patriots to a monstrously brutal 59-0 win over the Titans. The QB would go on to finish the game with 380 passing yards to go with a total of six touchdowns.
Where the Patriots themselves are concerned, it could be argued that they too have reason to want the return to red. The Patriots are 9-3 all-time when wearing the infamous jersey and one can imagine that they’ll be looking to add to that record when the season kicks off. It should be said that the Patriots have indicated that they will switch to the jersey at least once during the upcoming season, but it is not clear as to when exactly that will happen. Interestingly, this isn’t Brady’s only kit concern. The Bucs’ star was hoping that his team would unveil their Creamsicle uniforms this year, however, it now appears that won’t be the case with the franchise stating that said jerseys will reappear next year. Given that Brady is set to become a free agent at the end of the coming season, it may well be that he misses out on that wardrobe change as well.
