Deebo Samuel has been cleared to play for the San Francisco 49ers in Sunday’s NFC Championship Game against the Detroit Lions, having shaken off the shoulder injury he suffered a week ago.

WR back in full practice ahead of Lions test

Samuel, 28, was forced off in the first quarter of the 49ers’ 24-21 win over the Green Bay Packers in last Saturday’s Divisional Round clash.

The wide receiver, who registered 60 receptions for 892 yards and seven touchdowns during the regular season, rejoined full practice on Friday and is fit to face the Lions at Levi’s Stadium.

Samuel gives 49ers “huge” fitness boost

“It’s huge,” San Francisco head coach Kyle Shanahan told reporters as he reacted to the news of Samuel’s availability for Sunday.

“It was little scary at the beginning of the week, but the fact he was able to go full go today and no restrictions on him is definitely a good thing for us.”

Samuel, who was drafted by the 49ers in 2019, also registered 225 rushing yards for five TDs during the 2023 regular season.

49ers chasing first NFL title in 30 years

The 49ers, who have not won a Super Bowl since 1994, are aiming to in lift the NFC conference title for the first time since 2019, when they went on to be beaten to the Vince Lombardi Trophy by the Kansas City Chiefs.

The Californians face a Lions team that is in its first NFC Championship Game since 1991, and has never reached the Super Bowl.
