Star wide receiver CeeDee Lamb is expected to play for the Dallas Cowboys in Monday Night Football today, despite suffering an injury issue over the weekend.

What injury did CeeDee Lamb sustain?

The NFL receptions leader in 2023, Lamb was on Saturday reported as questionable for the Cowboys’ Week 11 match-up with the Houston Texans, after pulling up with a back issue during practice.

“He had something pop up in a 7-on-7 drill,” Dallas head coach Mike McCarthy revealed on Saturday, per DallasCowboys.com. McCarthy added that the problem was not a cause of “high concern” to the Cowboys.

On Sunday, NFL insider Tom Pelissero explained that Lamb had suffered “something resembling a back spasm”, and revealed that only “some type of a setback” will prevent the 25-year-old from facing the Texans today.

A three-time Pro Bowler, Lamb has started every Dallas game so far this season, receiving for a total of 681 yards and four touchdowns.

Can Cowboys curb losing sequence?

Lamb’s likely presence against the Texans represents a boost for the struggling Cowboys, whose sizeable injury list includes No. 1 quarterback Dak Prescott, who has been ruled out for the season with a torn hamstring.

In Prescott’s absence, back-up QB Cooper Rush will again start for McCarthy’s team against Houston, after the 30-year-old was limited to 45 throwing yards and no touchdowns in Week 10’s 34-6 defeat to the Philadelphia Eagles.

The loss to Philadelphia was the Cowboys’ fourth in a row, leaving the five-time Super Bowl champions with a 3-6 negative record in the 2024 regular season.

Like the Cowboys, the 6-4 Texans head into the game on a losing run - albeit not quite as lengthy. DeMeco Ryans’ men were beaten 21-13 by the New York Jets in Week 9, before losing 26-23 to the Detroit Lions in Week 10.
