Will C.J. Mosley and Zaire Barnes play for the Jets against the Broncos? Linebacker injury status
The Denver Broncos are making their way East this week, heading to New York for a clash against the Jets, with their renaissance QB back in play.
After a successful week, the Jets are beginning to reap the rewards of their investment in quarterback Aaron Rodgers. In the previous week, Rodgers delivered his best performance of the season, throwing for over 280 yards and two touchdowns without interceptions. It was a vintage display reminiscent of his MVP form.
His chemistry with receiver Garrett Wilson continues to grow, with Wilson finding the end zone for the first time this season. However, Wilson will face a tough challenge this week as he lines up against Denver’s star cornerback, Patrick Surtain II, who locked down Tampa Bay’s Mike Evans last week, allowing only 17 yards.
Jets are on a high, but can they make it without Mosley and Barnes against the Broncos?
Rodgers will also need to navigate a Denver secondary that recently held Buccaneers QB Baker Mayfield to just 163 passing yards, picked him off once, and applied constant pressure. Broncos defensive standouts, including linebacker Dre’Mont Jones and defensive end John Franklin-Myers, combined for seven sacks against Mayfield, and they’ll be looking to replicate that pressure on Rodgers.
Last week’s offensive leader for the Jets wasn’t one of their wide receivers but tight end Tyler Conklin, who posted a team-high 93 receiving yards. The Jets hope to get more production from their tight ends as the season progresses. Running backs Breece Hall and rookie Brilin Allen have also been key contributors, combining for seven catches and solidifying themselves as versatile options in both the run and pass game. Hall, who scored a rushing touchdown last week, will face a Broncos defense with mixed results against the run.
The Green & White team is currently dealing with injuries to two veteran starters. The latest to be added to the injury list, and who will be out of the game, is the offensive lineman Morgan Moses, who is dealing with an ankle injury and is not projected to be active for Sunday’s lineup.
Captain C.J. Mosley has missed the last two games due to a foot injury, and it’s uncertain whether he will play in Sunday’s game against the Broncos, as the Jets have listed his status as questionable. Zaire Barnes is also affected and placed on the injured reserve list due to an ankle injury. He will miss at least the first four games of the season, as confirmed by the Jets medical team. Among other players who are not in the Broncos’ game plans are Jermaine Johnson (Achilles), Wes Schweitzer (Hand), and Malik Taylor (Undisclosed).
