It’s been a difficult week for the Cleveland Browns - last week’s 27-14 defeat to the Steelers officially put them out of the playoff picture and Kevin Stefanski must now lift his team’s spirits for this weekend’s visit from the reigning Super Bowl champions.

The Browns (3-10) take on the team with the best record in the AL Conference. Only one team has managed to beat Kansas City during the current regular season - the Bills scuppered the Chiefs perfect season, treating their home fans to a 21-30 win over Patrick Mahomes, Travis Kelce and Co. last month.

It’s been the opposite for Stefanski’s men, with just two wins in their last 11 outings, they will be trying to get the best they can out of the four remaining games - especially the two home games. On the plus side, at least they are pretty much guaranteed to get a top-10 pick in next year’s Draft.

What injury did David Njoku suffer in Week 14?

There was the extra disappointment of losing tight end David Njoku, who suffered a hamstring injury last weekend against the Steelers. Njoku sat out both of this week’s practices and his status was classified as ‘day-to-day’ by the coach.

Hamstring injuries have to be treated with care and it’s unlikely that Njoku will fully participate in Friday’s session, if at all. As it stands it looks like he will miss Sunday’s matchup with the Chiefs.

This season, Njoku has 439 yards and five touchdowns on 56 catches.

The only other player who sat out practice on Wednesday and Thursday was veteran guard Joel Bitonio who is dealing with a back issue.

Browns must “go to school” on the Chiefs

Stefanski said Wednesday that both players will be monitored in the days leading up to the game. “This week, with the two-time defending champs coming to our place. They have great talent, as everyone knows, they are very well coached so we will have to be about our business.

“They present a ton of challenges, for you offense for your defense, for your special teams... so there’s a lot of things we need to ‘go to school’ on the Kansas City Chiefs and really get to work on them and that’s what we’ll do,” the coach concluded.

The NFL Week 15 regular season game between the Cleveland Browns and the Kansas City Chiefs and the takes place on Sunday December 15, 2024, at Huntington Bank Stadium in Cleveland, Ohio. Kick-off is scheduled for 1:00 p.m. ET/10:00 a.m. PT.

Viewers in the United States will be able to watch the game on CBS and Paramount+. You can stream CBS’s coverage on the online platform fubo, which offers new users a free introductory trial.
