Will DeVonta Smith play for the Eagles against the Panthers? NFL injury update
Philadelphia chase a ninth successive victory against Carolina and have mixed news on the injury front before Sunday’s game.
The Philadelphia Eagles go into Sunday’s week 14 game against the Carolina Panthers on the back of a superb run of eight straight victories, the latest of which saw them defeat the Baltimore Ravers last weekend. As they look to make it nine in a row, they will be bolstered by the return to action of DeVonta Smith.
Wide receiver Smith hasn’t featured since the week 11 win over the Washington Commanders, in which he recorded four interceptions for 29 yards. The 26-year-old has missed subsequent triumphs over the Los Angeles Rams and the Ravens because of a hamstring problem, which he is now over.
Smith fully participated in practice on Thursday and Friday and confirmed he would be returning to the starting lineup in the run-up to Sunday’s game, saying: “Count me in. Two weeks off, good break, so I feel fresh.”
Why isn’t Dallas Goedert playing for the Eagles against the Panthers?
The bad news for the Eagles is that Dallas Goedert has officially been ruled out because of a knee problem, which had always looked set to be the case.
The tight end was placed on injured reserve on Saturday, with Philadelphia hopeful he would be back at full tilt when the playoffs get underway in January.
How to watch Panthers - Eagles in week 14
A ninth successive victory for the Eagles could be enough for them to clinch a playoff spot in week 14, although it is surely only a matter of time in any case. The game between Philadelphia and the Ravens will be played on Sunday, December 8 at Lincoln Financial Field, with kickoff at 1:00 p.m. ET.
Fans in the United States can watch the game on FOX, while it will also be streamed on NFL+.
