Will Micah Parsons play for the Cowboys against the Steelers? NFL Week 5 injury status
As they prepare for a clash with the Steelers, the Cowboys do so knowing they won’t be able to count on one of the league’s best defensive players.
It’s been a bumpy start to the 2024 campaign for the Dallas Cowboys and that looks set to remain so as the team has now ruled out a player who is arguably the best in the NFL in his position. While it’s still too early to call the Cowboys’ run a failure, a win in Week 5 would go a long way toward ensuring that it doesn’t become one.
Cowboys rule out Micah Parsons
On Sunday evening, the Dallas Cowboys will take on the Pittsburgh Steelers and unfortunately, the team now faces the prospect of that challenge without the help of one of the league’s most feared defenders. Indeed, Friday’s injury report confirmed the absence of linebacker Micah Parsons who has officially been rule out with an ankle injury.
In the four games that Parsons has played this season, the 25-year-old has notched one sack and 14 combined tackles which is impressive, to say the least. Even more so is the fact that this marks the first time that Parsons will miss a game due to injury in his four-year NFL career; he did miss one game due to covid-19 back in 2021. Needless to say, his absence comes at a less-than-ideal time for the Cowboys who are currently sitting on a record of 2-2 after defeating the New York Giants 20–15 on September 26th and facing an opponent that’s 3-1 and on the up.
As for the details, Parsons suffered a high ankle sprain during the win against the Giants, something he admitted was a blow to the idea of invincibility that he had about himself. “You put a lot of energy into getting ready and being there for the team, so being out, this hurts me because I’m letting people down,” he said via the team’s website. “I’m just letting people down. I figured myself invincible for a while.” To date, Parsons has featured in three Pro Bowls and while receiving the nod in two consensus All-Pro teams.
