Update:

It’s been a strange NFL season so far, with no undefeated teams left already after just five games, and the Kansas City Chiefs at 2-3. The team that just built a dynasty with five Super Bowl appearances in the last six seasons, is now facing unexpected adversity after a 31–28 loss to the Jacksonville Jaguars dropped them to that record.

Patrick Mahomes gets brutally honest after Chiefs’ latest setback

During the game, quarterback Patrick Mahomes threw a pick-six at the goal line that was returned 99 yards for the touchdown. And the Jaguars had a wacky end to the game, when quarterback Trevor Lawrence tripped and lost the football, only to land on it again, get back up, and run it into the end zone for the game-winning touchdown.

Mahomes admitted frustration over letting the game, and a late lead, slip away, though he credited the Jaguars for closing strong.

“Obviously sucks, you know, you let a game slip away,” Mahomes said. “Credit to them, they played hard the entire game and they’ve got a lot of good football players and they closed out there at the end.”

Still sucks whenever you get a lead like that and you’re not able to hold it through the rest of the game,” he said.

The Chiefs now find themselves in an unusually tough position, needing to clean up costly mistakes and penalties before a challenging stretch that includes games against the Detroit Lions and Buffalo Bills. Despite the struggles, Mahomes remains confident in his team’s talent, but knows time is running short to turn things around.
