Young Seahawks fans banned from attending Super Bowl parade in Seattle
Seattle Public Schools are open this Wednesday, with students warned “parade attendance will not be considered an excused absence.”

Following your favorite sports team is rarely as big a deal as when you’re young, before responsibilities and commitments take over your life, whether you like it or not. Despite that, school kids in Seattle will not get the chance to experience the Seahawks’ Super Bowl parade in the city.
A statement issued by Fred Podesta, chief operations officer of Seattle Public Schools, explained that school-age children are expected to be in class as normal on Wednesday, when the Seahawks will celebrate just their second Super Bowl victory in the streets of Seattle.

School kids not allowed to skip class for Seattle parade
“As the city plans celebrations, including a victory parade planned for Wednesday, Feb. 11, at 10 a.m., we want families to know that Seattle Public Schools will remain open with the normal early-release Wednesday schedule,” read the statement.
Families have also been warned that “attendance policies will remain in effect, and parade attendance will not be considered an excused absence.”
The statement does finish with “Go Hawks!” although Seattle Public Schools have, unsurprisingly, been labeled proper party poopers by many locals.
In the last three years, schools in numerous districts in and around Philadelphia and Kansas City were closed, allowing children to celebrate the Eagles’ and Chiefs’ Super Bowl victories.
Seahawks’ second Super Bowl title
Seattle is taking a different approach, even with the Seahawks securing only the second championship in franchise history.
The Seahawks won their second championship ring thanks to a commanding 29-13 victory over the New England Patriots in Santa Clara.
Seattle previously won the Super Bowl in the 2013 season, defeating the Denver Broncos in the showpiece game in February 2014.
What is the Seahawks’ Super Bowl parade route in Seattle?
The parade will begin with a trophy ceremony at Lumen Field at 10 a.m. PT, 1 p.m. ET. That will be followed by a procession along Fourth Avenue, starting at 11 a.m. PT, 2 p.m. ET.
