The pic of the Paris Olympics ?
Despite LeBron James being named MVP in the final game against France, Steph Curry was imperious on Team USA's journey to the gold medal with the Golden State Warriors star bagging 17 of his 26 triple attempts in both the semi-final and final games.
That's all for Saturday!
We've seen some fantastic gold medals given out, and there's more tomorrow, as well as the closing ceremony!
How Day 16 of the 2024 Olympics shapes up
The curtain is set to come down tomorrow night in the French capital bring an end to the 2024 games.
But, before the Closing Ceremony takes place, there are a number of interesting matters to be resolved with the women's marathon kicking off the day. The men's handball final and women's basketball gold medal game are the other events that catch the eye.
The final golds of the day go to...
Li Qian of China and Bakhodir Jalolov of Uzbekistan secured the final boxing golds at Paris 2024.
Li claimed the women's 75kg gold with a 4-1 split decision victory over Panama's Atheyna Bylon.
In the men's +92kg category, Jalolov successfully defended his super-heavyweight title with a 5-0 unanimous win against Spain's Ayoub Ghadfa.
Gold goes to... Sweden!
David Ahman and Jonatan Hellvig take gold in the men's beach volleyball.
US BASKETBALL GOLD!
In another showing of extraordinary talent, Steph Curry led the US in a tense final quarter to ensure they continue their supreme period of dominance in the sport at the Olympic level.
Li Qian wins gold!
Li Qian dominates Atheyna Bibeichi Bylon of Panama, winning gold for the People's Republic of China in boxing women's 75kg!
Despite the loss, it's Panama's first medal since 2008!
I'm taking a small break from the medal action to tell you that we've got some sizzling basketball over with Dane who's in control of the live feed decks.
We're into the third quarter and the USA are just about up against the host nation in a tense game at Bercy Arena.
Taekwondo: Laurin captures home gold in women's +67kg
France's Althea Laurin is the new Olympic champion in the women's +67kg division, claiming gold with a dominant two-round victory over Uzbekistan's Sveltana Osipova. The arena burst into loud celebrations.
Earlier, bronze medals were awarded to Lee Dabin (KOR) and Nafia Kus Aydin (TUR).
Sakura takes gold!
The Japanese wrestler beat Iryna Koliadenko of Ukraine to win gold in the freestyle 62kg category.
Artistic swimming: People's Republic of China win duet gold
Chinese twins Wang Liuyi and Wang Qianyi take gold in the hotly contested event.
566.4783 points was enough to take the medal, ahead of GB and the Netherlands.
USA gold!
Team USA have won gold in the women's 4x400m relay!
Congratulations to the team of Quanera Hayes, Shamier Little, Aaliyah Butler and Kaylyn Brown.
The Netherlands finished strongly and came second, while Team GB edged out a valiant Irish team to take bronze.
Gold for New Zealand!
New Zealand's Hamish Kerr has taken gold in the men's high jump gold in a jump-off that saw the USA's Shelby McEwen miss at 2.34m.
Emmanuel Wanyonyi becomes youngest ever Olympic 800m champion
Kenya's Emmanuel Wanyonyi held off one of the strongest fields in history to win the Olympic gold medal in the men's 800 metres on Saturday, securing his country's fifth consecutive Olympic title in the event.
The 20-year-old Wanyonyi blazed to a time of one minute 41.19 seconds, making him the third fastest man ever over the distance.
Kipyegon storms to her 3rd consecutive Olympic gold medal
Faith Kipyegon became the first athlete, man or woman, to win the Olympic 1500m three times.
The Kenyan broke breaks clear on the straight to create a new Olympic record 3:51.29!
Jess Hull takes silver in 3:52.56, and Georgia Bell hangs on for bronze in a British record 3:52.61
Ingebrigtsen wins men's 5000m gold
Jakob Ingebrigtsen wins gold in 13:13.66. Kenya's Ronald Kewmoi silver in 13:15.04.
And bronze goes to Grant Fisher in 13:15.13. Lobalu just missed out, finishing fourth, but a remarkable run from the Swiss-based refugee athlete.
Portugal scoop velodrome gold
A day after taking men's omnium silver, Portugal bag Madison gold with a score of 55 points – 35 from sprints and 20 for gaining a lap – to clinch the Olympic title.
Silver went to Italy on 47 (27 sprint and a lap gained), with Denmark taking bronze on 41 (21 sprint and a lap gained).
USWNT take gold in women's football
A nervy ending to the action in Paris saw new USWNT head coach Emma Hayes taste glory with a goal from Mallory Swanson just before the hour mark enough to break Brazilian hearts.
USWNT lead Brazil in final
A goal from Mallory Swanson has the USWNT on the cusp of a women's soccer gold with just 15 minutes remaining in their final game against Brazil.
An Olympic gold would be a tremendous start for new coach Emma Hayes in her first major challenge in charge of the team.
Another gold for China
China's women's table tennis team bag another gold making their Paris 2024 triumph their 5th gold in a row in this event!
Japan bag the silver medal with Korea Republic collecting the bronze.
Spain bag first ever women's water polo gold
Spain celebrated their first gold medal in Olympic women's water polo by fending off Australia 11-9 on Saturday to erase galling defeats in finals at the Tokyo and London 2012 Games.
Maica Godoy put the Spaniards 11-7 up with a goal late in the fourth quarter and though Australia clawed two back their rally was cut short by the clock in front of a packed house at La Defense Arena.
It was third time lucky for Spain, three years after being trounced 14-5 in Tokyo and 8-5 in London by the United States, who also won the title in 2016.
Norway triumphant in women's handball
Norway beat France 29-21 to take their third women's handball gold medal. Denmark picked up bronze.
The Women's soccer gold medal match between the USWNT and Brazil is underway. You can follow all the action over on our Brazil v USWNT minute-by-minute coverage!
Perfect Olympics for China in diving
It’s gold for China in the Men’s 10m platform! Cao Juan, the defending champion, nails his final dive and lands gold. That makes it an incredible eight out of eight for China in the diving. Wow!
High Jump
Sad news from the high jump, where reigning joint-champion (remember that beautiful moment), Gianmarco Tamberi is almost certainly out of tonight's men's high jump final. He's been suffering renal problems and suspected kidney stones. He made it through qualification but has been taken to hospital after vomiting blood this morning. We wish him all the best and a quick recovery!
Rhythmic Gymnastics
China are sitting pretty for gold in the Rhythmic Gymnastics. with Italy falling just short and currently sitting in second place. Only Israel left and they need 34.2 to level with China, which is unlikely...
Medal count
China have sneaked into the lead at the top of the medal table, after Liu Huanhua’s win at the weightlifting. They are on 34 golds, one ahead of Team USA's 33. Australia are back on 18.
China have good (or great) gold medal chances in men's platform diving and women's table tennis later on today.
The USA, meanwhile, fancy their chances for gold in women’s soccer, men’s basketball, track and field relays, and of course, breaking.
Check out the 2024 Olympics full medal table.
Volleyball gold for France!
France's men's volleyball team are Olympic champions...again! They did it in Tokyo and they've done it again on home soil, which I'm sure will taste even more magnifique. They defeated silver medalists Poland 3-0 in the final. The USA adds to its medal tally with a bronze.
Canoe sprint gold for Canada's Vincent!
Katie Vincent of Canada has taken the gold medal in the women's canoe single 200m...but only just! She edged Team USA's Nevin Harrison into silver by 0.01 seconds! Yarisleidis Cirilo Duboys of Cuba takes the bronze, a whopping 0.23 seconds further back.
That weightlifting gold has moved China onto 34 golds, one ahead of the United States, who are well clear in terms of overall medals. But which of the two are more important?
It's a bit complicated, as it turns out...
Here's more on how the Olympic medal table works, however, official or unofficial it may be.
Canoe sprint gold for Czechia's Dostal!
Another canoe sprint, another gold medalist! This time it's Josef Dostal of Czechia in the men's kayak single 1000m. His fifth Olympic medal, but his first gold one!
Adam Varga of Hungary takes the silver, and compatriot Balint Kopasz the bronze!
Weightlifting gold for China's Liu Huanhua!
A first gold of the day for China in weightlifting! Liu Huanhua has done the business in the men's 102kg category. With a total of 406kg, he edges out Akbar Djuraev of Uzkebistan (404kg) and Yauheni Tsikhantsou, an Individual Neutral Athlete (402kg).
Big news in the medal table...
Sporting climbing gold for Slovenia's Garnbret! Silver for USA!
Janja Garnbret is a two-time Olympic champion! The Slovenian has defended the women's sport climbing combined title she won in Tokyo, beating the USA's Brooke Raboutou into second place. The first medal of the for the States. Jessica Pilz of Austria claims the bronze.
Canoe sprint gold for New Zealand's Carrington!
It's gold for Lisa Carrington of New Zealand...again! The 35-year-old wins her third of the 2024 Olympic Games in the women's kayak single 500m and the eighth of her career overall! She is now tied with Germany's Birgit Fischer as the canoe athlete with most Olympic gold medals in history.
Silver goes to Hungary's Tamara Csipes, with Emma Aastrand Jorgensen of Denmark taking the bronze.
Basketball bronze for Serbia!
Fancy another bronze medal? Of course you do. And Serbia certainly do. Nikola Jokic (19 points, 12 rebounds, 11 assists) has inspired his country to a 93-83 win over Germany in the men's basketball third-place match. 18 points and 9 rebounds from Franz Wagner weren't enough for the Germans.
Kipchoge confirms end of Olympic career
Given he's 39, it doesn't come as a huge surprise, but two-time marathon gold medalist Eliud Kipchoge has confirmed the end of his Olympic career after failing to finish the 2024 race.
“It is a difficult time for me,” he admitted after dropping out just after the 30km mark after an hour and about 40 seconds of running, with a discomfort around his waist.
"This is my worst marathon. I have never done a DNF (did not finish). That’s life. Like a boxer, I have been knocked down, I have won, I have come second, eighth, 10th, fifth – now I did not finish. That’s life.
“You will see me in a different way (in Los Angeles), maybe giving people motivation, but I will not run. I don't know what's next. I need to go back [home], sit down, try to figure my 21 years of running at high level. I need to evolve and feature in other things.”
Table tennis bronze for South Korea!
Those bronzes just keep on coming! South Korea are next to get one in the women's team table tennis competition. Shin Yubin/Jeon Jihee (doubles), and Lee Eunhye, and Jeon again (singles) all won their matches to beat Germany 3-0.
China will take on Japan for gold.
Water polo bronze for Netherlands! USA miss out on medal
Another team bronze medal has been dished out, and this time it goes to the Netherlands! Their women's water polo team has narrowly beaten Team USA 11-0 to finish in third place. Sabrina van der Sloot scored the match-winning goal in the very last second.
Here's the Dutch looking happy with their efforts.
Handball bronze for Denmark!
Denmark have won a Scandinavian derby against Sweden to take the bronze medal in women's handball! As the Olympics themselves point out, that's first they've clinched a medal since winning three golds in a row in 1996, 2000 and 2004.
France take on Norway in the final, which gets going at 3pm ET.
The 'Joker' laughing against Serbia
In that men's basketball bronze medal match, Serbia, inspired as ever by Nikola Jokic, have made a fine start against world champions Germany. The Serbs are 41-31 up as it stands, with five minutes of the second quarter left to play.
What's on now at the 2024 Olympic Games?
Little by little, things are picking up. We've got quite a few events underway now, although no more medals have been dished out just yet.

It's early days on Saturday, so there's been no change at the top of the Olympic medal table. Team USA still lead from China, although both headed into the penultimate day of action having won 33 golds. How likely are their positions to change? Well, it depends...
Kipchoge "fails to finish" Olympic men's marathon
Not the day Eliud Kipchoge was hoping for. The Kenyan won gold medals in the men's marathon in 2016 and 2020 (2021) but seemingly dropped out of the 2024 race after 30km, although has yet to be officially confirmed by the IOC. At one stage, he was seen holding his side, which suggests he wasn't feeling in great shape.
Marathon gold for Ethiopia and Tola!
There they go! The first medals of the day have been won in the men's marathon. Ethiopia's Tamirat Tola takes the gold, but not just any gold. An Olympic record gold, as I mentioned a few minutes ago!
Bashir Abdi claims a silver medal for Belgium, with Kenya's Benson Kipruto completing the podium with a bronze.
Tola wins men's marathon, new Olympic record!
Tamirat Tola has done it! The Ethiopian has claimed the gold medal and set a new Olympic record of 2:06:26 to boot! What a run!
Nine athletics gold up for grabs
I don't know about you, but when I think of the Olympics, I often first think of athletics. We've got eight athletics finals coming up today following the men's marathon, which is nearing it's conclusion! Here's what's on its way:

15:22: Women’s 4x400m relay final
All times ET.
Eliud Kipchoge's Olympic marathon treble dream over
Eliud Kipchoge has won the last two Olympic marathons, but it doesn't look as if he's going to be completing a treble. The Kenyan, after a steady start, has dropped way down the field, with Ethiopia's Tamirat Tola now out in front.
If you did take me up on my offer to watch the second part of the men's marathon, you'll sadly not have the chance to watch the extraordinary talents of Kelvin Kiptum. The Kenyan runner would've been the red-hot favourite to take the gold medal had tragedy not struck just a few months ago. His marathon record was quite something.
Team USA face France in first of basketball double header
Is this the highlight of day 15? Will it also be the highlight of day 16 tomorrow? For the first time ever in the Olympics, the men's and women's basketball finals will be contested by the same two countries - Team USA and France.
On the men's side, the United States have won 16 of the 19 tournaments they have played in. On the women's, they've won nine times out of 11. Can they extend those incredible records in 2024?
If you happen to be up early (depending where you are in the world) and fancy watching the second half of the men's marathon at the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris, then you're in luck! Here's how viewers in the United States can catch the action. A little more than an hour still to go on the streets of the French capital.
To make sure you don't miss anything or get any of your times mixed up, we suggest opening this page and keeping it open all day. How could anything possibly go wrong?

Going for gold on Saturday, August 10
By my calculations, we've got a total of 39 (yes, THIRTY-NINE) gold medals up for grabs today, with a whole host of event drawing to a close. Nine of those will come in athletics alone, with one event already underway. More on that in a moment.
Hello and welcome to day 15 of the 2024 Olympics!
Hello and welcome to AS USA's live medal tracker for the Paris 2024 Olympic Games on Saturday, August 10. Today is day 15, which is sadly the penultimate day of action in the French capital.
Follow along with the action and stay up to do date with who's at the top of the tree for gold medals.
