Carlos Alcaraz was the main favorite to win the gold medal in the 2024 Olympic tennis tournament and after a few days of competition, he’s proving once again why.
The four-time Grand Slam event champion wants to record a unique 2024 after winning the French Open and Wimbledon, and the Summer Games offer him the opportunity to do so by adding an Olympic medal to his resume.
After beating Habib, Griekspoor, Safiulin, and now Tommy Paul, the world No. 3 is just two games away from glory. Against the American, the young superstar had to dig deep to emerge victorious after Paul held him to a tight tiebreak in the second set.

Alcaraz got to the semifinals without losing a set which shows how comfortable Juan Carlos Ferrero’s player has been since the start of the tennis event.

But Alcaraz has already made history in the French capital, as he’s the youngest man to reach the singles semifinals at a Summer Games since Novak Djokovic in 2008 and the fourth youngest player to reach this round in the Olympics history at 21 years and 83 days old. Ahead of Carlos on the list are Djokovic, Goran Ivanisevic, and Roger Federer.
Alcaraz, who was also the youngest player to lift a major trophy on all three surfaces (clay, hard, and grass) and the youngest man to become the world No. 1, will face the winner of the Casper Ruud-Feliz Auger Aliassime game in the semifinals.
