Coco Gauff, Team USA flag bearer with LeBron James at the 2024 Paris Olympic Games

The United States team has confirmed the tennis player as the flag bearer of the American team along with the legend and captain of the basketball team.

The United States has already defined the two athletes who will carry the Stars and Stripes flag at the opening ceremony of the Olympic Games on Friday.

After confirming the appointment of basketball legend and men’s team captain of his team LeBron James, American basketball legend and captain of his team in the Paris event, Team USA, the United States Olympic team, has announced that tennis star Coco Gauff will accompany LeBron James as flag bearer.

Gauff has become one of the great figures of American tennis following her victory at the US Open 2023 and rising to number two in the WTA ranking. The young American tennis player has also become an example to follow off the court, showing herself to be very committed to relevant social issues such as the fight against racism after the death of George Floyd along with equality for women in sport.

It has been a positive year so far for the 20-year-old who started 2024 by winning the WTA Auckland Open reached the semi-finals in five major individual events (the Australia Open, India Wells, the Italian Open, French Open and German Open). She also won the women’s doubles at Roland Garros with Katerina Siniaková and reached the quarter finals at Jessica Pegula with Jessica Pegula.
