How is tennis star Carlos Alcaraz preparing for the Paris Olympic Games?
The current French Open and Wimbledon champion is making the last preparations for the Olympic tennis tournament before traveling to Paris.
The biggest and probably most important sports event in the world is edging closer and the best athletes are working to make a big impact in the 2024 Olympic Games and win a medal.
One of the stars of the Paris event will be Carlos Alcaraz. The tennis star is looking to make history in 2024 and clinch the gold in the French capital after reigning supreme at the French Open and Wimbledon this year.
Winning a gold medal at the Summer Olympics is one of the biggest goals for any athlete, but doing it at 21 would be an incredible achievement for the Murcia native. However, Alcaraz will have to deal with Novak Djokovic’s huge motivation to win his first gold medal in the singles Olympic event and with top players like Jannik Sinner, Alexander Zverev, or Casper Ruud.
Carlos Alcaraz’s preparations ahead of the 2024 Olympic Games
With very few days to relax after his impressive win over Djokovic in the Wimbledon final, Alcaraz started to work on the Olympics. He changed the All England Club’s grass for the Real Sociedad Club de Campo clay courts, in Murcia, Spain.
Since then, Carlitos hasn’t stopped training. Most of his sessions have focused on his conditioning and will continue until this Monday when he will travel to Paris alongside his staff.
Besides working hard on his fitness, he has also had a mental break with some of his youngest fans. Several young tennis players, from 8 to 18, who have been training on his campus had the chance to share their time with ‘Charly’, who had a nice time with them.
Besides getting his body ready for the biggest competitions on the calendar, Juan Carlos Ferrero and his team have also been working on Carlos’ mental aspect over the last months, which has translated into successes so far and could also play a big factor during the Olympic tennis event, which will start on July 27.
Alcaraz will undoubtedly be one of the main favorites to win the gold medal. He will compete in the singles but also the doubles tournament teaming up with Rafa Nadal, who has been playing in the Bastad clay event this week alongside Casper Ruud in the doubles.
