Although the United States has shown its dominance in the swimming events of the Paris Olympic Games after winning eight gold medals, 13 silver medals and seven bronze medals as well as beating Australia, who finish second in the medal table, criticism of the American team has not been long in coming.

Despite this result, the performance of the Team USA swimmers did not completely satisfy the United States' top representative at the Olympic Games, Michael Phelps, who stressed that the differences that previously existed between the Americans and other nations have been narrowing.

Other countries are catching up with the United States, warns Phelps

In an interview with USA Today, Phelps revealed that this result should be a warning to the United States swimming team to take into account the close margin that exists and to work on it in preparation for the Olympic Games in Los Angeles in four years’ time.

“Overall, I was pretty disappointed with the results of American swimming. One of the things I’ve always said over the last few years is that the rest of the world is catching up. I think a lot of the things that we’ve done as a country for so long, other people are catching up. They’re doing the same thing, and hopefully, I think we’ll be able to make that transition by 2028,” Phelps told USA Today.

This is how Michael Phelps makes a call within Team USA in view of the 2028 Los Angeles Games, where the United States will seek to continue dominating in the pool, although with an extra obligation to win more golds and return to that era in which the so-called Baltimore Shark led a completely winning team that aspired to all the golds.
