OLYMPIC GAMES

What LIV golfers are participating in the 2024 Olympics in Paris?

The Olympics are said to be a union of nations in the name of peace and sport. That’s why seeing LIV Golf & PGA Tour players together is different.

This week will see the start of Olympic golf with the men’s competition getting underway before the women’s does the same just a week later. Golf fans can look forward to a field of 60 players from 33 countries around the world playing in a 72-hole stroke-play tournament. Of course, what fans of the game will really have their eyes on are the players from LIV Golf.

LIV golfers head to the Paris Olympics

As mentioned above, Olympic golf tee off this week with the men’s tournament running from August 1st to 4th and the women’s following shortly after on August 7th and ending on the 10th. This will mark the third straight Summer Games in which the sport has been featured since its return to the slate in Rio de Janeiro back in 2016

Now, where qualifying for the competition is concerned, it is based on an Olympic Ranking system that mirrors the Official World Golf Ranking for men and the Rolex Women’s Rankings for women. To that end, the tournament will see fourteen of the top 25 men in the Official World Golf Ranking competing, while 19 of the top 25 women in the Rolex Ranking will be in Paris. To be clear, the Olympic qualifying criteria are designed to ensure players from around the world are represented, including a large portion of the field ranked outside the top 200.

It should also be said that the top 15 players in the world are eligible, though there is a limitation of four players from any given country. As such, the remainder of the Olympic field came from the rankings, with a maximum of two eligible players from each country that did not already have two or more players in the top 15. As the host country of the Olympics, France was ensured a minimum of one spot. This brings us to the question of which tour or league, if you prefer, said players came from. Of the 60 players set to take to the course at Le Golf National, seven of them come from LIV Golf. Below you can see a list of who they are, what country they represent, their OWGR ranking, and their Olympic experience, if any.
