2024 Paris Olympics: The Course

Le Golf National is one of Europe’s premier golf courses, providing a beautiful and innovative setting for international competitions. Located in Saint-Quentin-en-Yvelines, it is 41 km from the Olympic Village. Owned and managed by the French Golf Federation, the venue was designed as the permanent home for the annual French Open tournament and a national training facility.

Le Golf National opened in 1991 and was renovated in 2016. The facility offers three courses: The Oiselet, Aigle, and Albatros. The Albatros course has hosted the French Open since 1991 and the Ryder Cup in 2018. It will also host the golf competition at the Paris Olympics. The course is a challenging layout with water hazards and combines Florida-style, Irish links, and French design characteristics.

2024 Paris Olympics: The competition format

The competition will consist of a 72-hole individual stroke-play event over four days. The golfers will play 18 holes each day, and at the end of the four rounds, the golfer with the lowest total score will win the gold medal.

In stroke play, each player competes against all others in the competition by totaling their scores for one or more rounds. In individual stroke play, players must complete every hole, and the scores for each hole are added to determine the final score.
