After three long years of anticipation, the 2022 Presidents Cup is finally upon us.

Taking place from September 22–25,  the 14th edition of the competition will be held at the Quail Hollow Club in Charlotte, North Carolina, which has hosted the Wells Fargo Championship annually - a fixture on the PGA Tour.

The United States goes into the championship as a massive favorite to retain the cup after a dramatic 16-14 victory at Royal Melbourne in 2019. Meanwhile, an up-and-coming international team, which has eight rookies on its roster, is hoping to do big things in North Carolina. While their chances are severely hurt by the absences of Cameron Smith, Joaquin Niemann, Abraham Ancer, Louis Oosthuizen and Charl Schwartzel and others who have joined LIV Golf, they at least they have four players with Presidents Cup experience: Hideki Matsuyama, Sungjae Im, Adam Scott and Si-Woo Kim.

Since 2007, foursomes have favored the Americans, holding a 30-point edge over the International squad. As they are expected to keep the Presidents Cup on home soil, an international defeat would be one of the biggest knock overs in team match-play events in the history of golf.
