What’s the prize money for the 2022 Presidents Cup?

One of the things that makes the Presidents Cup unique, is the fact that while there is prize money on the line, it’s not actually paid to the winners, but instead to charities of their choosing. With that said, the purse on the line for the 2022 Presidents Cup is $3,150,000 with the second placed finisher taking away $1.9 million. As mentioned before, the Presidents Cup is a charity event and as such all winnings will be given to a variety of charities in effort to help those in need.

Where is the 2022 Presidents Cup?

Completed by George Cobb in 1961, the 2022 Presidents Cup will be played at the illustrious Quail Hollow Club in Charlotte, North Carolina from the 22nd of September to the 25th. Interestingly, Quail Hollow Club has become a regular fixture on the PGA Tour and PGA Tour Champions since 1969 and has hosted what is now known as the Wells Fargo Championship since 2003. Though finished by the above-mentioned Cobb, the course has undergone several renovations since that time, including those of legendary golfer Arnold Palmer and most recently, Tom Fazio. The course is 7,576 yards in length.

The Presidents Cup returns

Traditionally held on odd-numbered years, the Presidents Cup was of course delayed due to the covid-19 pandemic. Indeed, following the Americans’ victory in 2019 by a score of 16-14 at Royal Melbourne Golf Club in Australia, we’ve had to wait some time for the tournament to make its return. Of course, there has also been some impact stemming from the recently launched LIV Golf tour, which has seen a number of players who were up for qualification axed from the list after they chose to join the Saudi backed league.
