Iga Świątek has just solidified her position as the world number one in women’s tennis, reclaiming it from Aryna Sabalenka after her impressive win against American player Jessica Pegula at the WTA finals held in Cancun, Mexico. This week, she will mark her 76th consecutive week at No. 1, putting her in the 10th position on the list of all-time weeks spent in the top spot.

It was her sixth title of the season and 17th overall, and with such prestigious championships come impressive purses. She won the French Open earlier this year, her fourth career major and the trophy at Roland Garros came with prize money worth around $2.3 million.

When she won the French Open, her first major title, in 2020, she earned around $1.8 million, the most considerable amount she had ever made as a professional tennis at that point.

Heading into the WTA Finals, Swiatek’s career earnings had reached some $23 million, and her win at Cancun gave her another substantial check of $2.3 million. This brings her total winnings at the court to a hefty total of almost $25 million.

Swiatek’s endorsements

Most of the 21-year-old’s earnings come from what she earns in tournaments, but because of her stature as the leading women’s tennis player, she has also been approached by several brands for endorsements.

She was the first female tennis player to be sponsored by Swiss apparel and footwear manufacturer On, endorsed and partly owned by Roger Federer, while Tecnifibre provides her rackets.

For the past two years, Iga Swiatek has reigned as the champion of the Porsche Tennis Grand Prix in Stuttgart, driving off with the trophy and a new car. After winning her second car, she was offered a contract as the brand ambassador, similar to her partnership with the Swiss watch manufacturer Rolex. She is also sponsored by the most prominent Polish insurance company, PZU. During her career, Swiatek also collaborated with Japanese car companies Toyota Lexus, Red Bull, and Xiaomi.

Considering her tennis winnings, sponsorships, and endorsements, Swiatek’s net worth was believed to range from $20-23 million before the WTA Finals. The $2.3 million prize money she earned in Cancun considerably bumps up that figure.

Assuming she continues to perform as impressively as she has been doing this year, her net worth is expected to increase. Considering her young age, Swiatek has many years ahead of her to enjoy the benefits of excelling in her chosen sport.
