The second round of the 2023 Mexico Open will get under way on Friday, April 28, at Vidanta Vallarta in Puerto Vallarta. Defending champ Jon Rahm started his defense with a 4-under round on Thursday. Local golfer Raul Pereda gave fans something to cheer about with an impressive 6-under start.
All eyes are on Jon Rahm, the world’s top-ranked golfer, and current Masters champion as he aims to defend his championship title. The Spaniard has become a crowd favorite wherever he plays thanks to his mild manners and tough competitive spirit. Tony Finau will also be looking to repeat a strong peformance here last year.
Last year Tony Finau nearly caught Rahm, but ultimately came up one stroke short. Alex Noren is one of the few players within the top 50 in the world rankings. Several Mexican golfers are looking to impress in front of local fans, such as Jose Cristobal Islas (a), Alvaro Ortiz, Sebastian Vazquez, Roberto Lebrija, Omar Morales (a) and the previously mentioned Raul Pereda, who is currently T2.
