2023 Rocket Mortgage Classic: Round 1 tee times, pairings, and featured groups
Excited for the upcoming 2023 Rocket Mortgage Classic? Take a look at the Round 1 pairings scheduled to play at the Detroit Golf Club North course.
Although Rocket Mortgage Classic is only in its fifth year, the renowned Detroit Golf Club hosts the tournament. The Detroit Golf Club is one of the oldest and most prestigious golf clubs in the United States. Founded in 1899 by a group of prominent businessmen and golf enthusiasts from Detroit, Michigan.
The club’s original location was in Grosse Pointe, a suburb of Detroit. In 1916, the Detroit Golf Club moved to its current location on Seven Mile Road in the Detroit suburb of Detroit Golf Club Road. The club hired renowned golf course architect Albert Warren “A.W.” Tillinghast to design two new 18-hole courses, the North and the South. The North Course became the primary championship course for the club.
The club’s North Course hosted the PGA Tour’s Rocket Mortgage Classic starting in 2019, which became a regular stop on the PGA Tour schedule. The lineup for the 2023 Rocket Mortgage Classic boasts an impressive roster of PGA Tour players, possibly the most prestigious in the tournament’s five-year history. Fourteen of the top 50 golfers in the World Golf Rankings will compete at the Detroit Golf Club starting Thursday.
Tony Finau, the defending champion, claimed victory in 2022 with a thrilling playoff win and an impressive score of -26. Finau will be aiming to defend his title against fierce competition.
