2023 US Open: What is Daniil Medvedev’s net worth?

Russian Medvedev won’t be expected to defeat Novak Djokovic in the final but has already done just that in New York.

WILL OLIVEREFE

To some, taking on Novak Djokovic in the final of the Grand Slam would be seen as a thankless task. No other player has won more major titles than the 36-year-old, who can add another to collection at the 2023 US Open on Sunday. His opponent, Daniil Medvedev, however, will be looking forward to the match-up with excitement rather than trepidation.

Medvedev confident after Alcaraz and Djokovic wins

The Russian goes into the showpiece game at Flushing Meadows in confident mood after upsetting world number one Carlos Alcaraz in four sets in the semi-finals. And, perhaps most crucially, the 27-year-old already knows what it takes to defeat Djokovic in a major final, having done so at the very same event in 2021. Two years ago, Medvedev denied the Serb the chance to win the Grand Slam (hold all four majors at the same time) by beating him in the last one of the season in straightforward fashion (6-4, 6-4, 6-4).

Russian star no stranger to winning tournaments

Can the world number 3 dig out his old recipe and cook up something similar at Flushing Meadows? Although he has just one major to his name (compared to Djokovic’s 23), Medvedev knows what it takes to get the job done.

The 2021 US Open champion also triumphed in the ATP Finals in 2020 and has won a total of 20 titles in his career, including six ATP Masters 1000 events, two of which came earlier this year. Only Djokovic and Rafael Nadal, two of the greatest players of all time, have beaten him in a Grand Slam final (2019 US Open, 2021 Australian Open and 2022 Australian Open).

How much has Medvedev earned in his tennis career?

The Russian is comfortably inside the top 10 when it comes to career earnings, although he is, of course, helped by the fact that playing tennis has never been more lucrative. According to ATP Tour statistics, he has made $32,512,216 from his singles and doubles career, and his appearances in this year’s US Open final means he will break the $6 million barrier this season.

His endorsement earnings were estimated at $15 million in 2022, contributing to an overall net worth of $16 million. Impressive figures, unless you compare them to Djokovic…

Can Medvedev get one over on the Serb once again at Flushing Meadows?
