2023 Wyndham Championship: How much does playing at Sedgefield Country Club cost?
Throughout its history, Sedgefield Country Club, which boasts a course designed by Ross, has lured a pack of golfers from all corners of the United States.
The Wyndham Championship has a rich history, dating back to its founding in 1938 as the Greater Greensboro Open. The tournament has been held at Sedgefield Country Club since its inception and at Starmount Forest Country Club in Greensboro in its early years.
In 2007, Sedgefield Country Club underwent a $3 million restoration process, which included lengthening the course to accommodate modern PGA TOUR golfers. The restoration was completed in 10 months and was led by expert Kris Spence. As a result, the classic course now covers 7,117 yards and plays to a par 70. In 2008, after over three decades at Forest Oaks, the Wyndham Championship returned to its original home at Sedgefield Country Club.
The Ross Course in Sedgefield, which hosts the Wyndham Championship of the PGA Tour, has steadily improved its position in the annual North Carolina Golf Panel rankings. It has climbed to the 13th spot on the list of the state’s top 100 courses, up from its previous position of 22.
