Augusta, GA - The 2024 Masters had a delayed start on Thursday due to bad weather. Despite this, the golfers managed to deliver a captivating performance amidst the wind and rain. Half an inch of rain fell overnight, and persistent winds whipped through the course, which made the conditions far from ideal. Yet, amidst these challenges, the patrons were treated to a spectacle of top-notch golf. The gusts, reaching speeds of up to 20 mph and swirling through the majestic Tall Pine trees, posed a formidable challenge. However, 31 players managed to finish under par, showcasing their mastery over Augusta National.

The world’s number one Scotty Sheffler delivered a standout performance. His flawless display was evident throughout, underlined by a remarkable bunker shot on the 12th that epitomized his prowess, which we saw so many times in the last years. Negotiating the tricky terrain with finesse, Sheffler’s shot left onlookers spellbound and set the tone for his stellar round.

Bryson DeChambeau also stole the spotlight with his masterful showing. Taking full advantage of the scoring opportunities, DeChambeau’s precision and consistency propelled him to the top of the leaderboard with a remarkable 65, the lowest score of his major career.

Defending champion John Rahm found the day more challenging, finishing one over par in his opening round. Despite flashes of brilliance, Rahm found himself grappling with the unpredictable winds, a reminder of the unforgiving nature of Augusta National. Meanwhile, all eyes were on Tiger Woods as he made a triumphant return to the Masters stage. Battling back from injury, Woods showcased glimpses of his former glory, delighting fans with his confident stride and solid play. Despite an unfinished round due to darkness, Woods’ performance left spectators hopeful for what’s to come.
