2024 US Open round 4 tee times on Sunday: When do Rory McIlroy and Bryson DeChambeau tee off?
Bryson DeChambeau holds a three-shot lead going into the final round at Pinehurst No. 2, with Rory McIlroy among the chasing pack.
Bryson DeChambeau has taken control of the 2024 US Open at Pinehurst No. 2 and will head into Sunday’s final round with a three-shot lead after a three-under par 67, the best round of the day on Saturday.
How DeChambeau took control of the 2024 US Open
The 2020 US Open winner started the day a stroke behind leader Ludwig Aberg but outscored the young Swede by six in the third round. DeChambeau’s final around advantage could have been even larger had it not been for a double bogey on 16, although he did bounce back with an immediate birdie on the par 3 17th.
Aberg’s third-round 73 included three birdies and three bogies, with most of the damage done on the par 4 13th, which he triple bogied. The 24-year-old now finds himself five shots off the lead on -2, alongside 2021 Masters champion Hideki Matsuyama.
Rory McIlroy, Patrick Cantlay and Matthieu Pavon are DeChambeau’s closest chasers, although the European duo were left to rue back nine mistakes that prevent them from being that bit nearer the leader.
McIlroy had been three under for his round but dropped shots on 15 and 17, both par 3s. Pavon, meanwhile, was also three under through 10 before slipping up on 11 and 16. Those bogies could prove fatal come the end of play on Sunday.
World number one Scottie Scheffler, who only just made the cut, is still looking for his first round under par at Pinehurst No. 2, although his one-over 71 on Saturday did see him push his way up the field slightly.
