The first round of the WM Phoenix Open was delayed for more than three and a half hours on Thursday due to inclement weather conditions. The second round will also start on Friday morning. Despite the heavy wind and rain, golfers took to the course on Thursday before the play was suspended again, this time due to the onset of darkness. As a result, it was a rain-ravaged and challenging day for everyone at the TPC Scottsdale. However, after completing the first round, Sahith Theegala emerged as the current leader of the tournament.
Known for its raucous environment, the TPC Scottsdale is the highest-attended event on the PGA TOUR calendar. Its iconic par 3, the 16th hole, is popular among golf enthusiasts. In previous years, the attendance of patrons during Saturday rounds has reached up to 200,000 guests. This year, the tournament features a talented field of golfers, with Scottie Scheffler among the top performers. Scheffler is looking for his third consecutive win at the “The People’s Open,” which would make him only the sixth player in PGA Tour history to achieve the feat.
