Update:

Tiger Woods announced less than a month ago that he underwent surgery to repair a ruptured Achilles. But today, he announced on social media that, thanks to advancements in modern medicine and training, he is already ready to return to form and play at the Augusta Masters next week.

April Fools - Tiger Woods still in recovery

It’s no coincidence that Woods made that post on April 1. Not only is it just a few weeks after his surgery, but it’s also April Fool’s Day. Although he never did give a timeline on his recovery following the March 11 surgery, even the best of doctors couldn’t have gotten Woods ready for the Masters in less than four weeks.

Woods acknowledged the joke just five minutes later, writing “P.S. April Fools my Achilles is still a mess :)”.

In reality, Woods is probably only just starting to be able to put full weight on his injured side. Typically, a ruptured Achilles will take six to nine months to fully recover from and to be ready to return to physical activities.

The 2025 Masters will begin on April 10 at Augusta National Golf Club. It will be Woods’ first time missing the Masters since 2021 when he was recovering from leg injuries sustained in a car crash. Despite not being ready to play just yet, fellow golfer Fred Couples has said Woods is in “great spirits”.
