Alcaraz completes a career ‘grand slam’: These are the men who have done it
In the Australian Open men’s singles final in Melbourne, Spain’s Carlos Alcaraz joined an exclusive club of tennis legends.

In today’s Australian Open final, Carlos Alcaraz clinched a career clean sweep achieved by only a handful of men’s tennis stars.
Alcaraz, who beat veteran great Novak Djokovic on Rod Laver Arena, has completed the set of all four major singles titles.
Alcaraz follows in Djokovic’s footsteps
Now a seven-time major winner, Alcaraz headed into this year’s Australian Open having lifted two titles each at Wimbledon, the French Open and the U.S. Open. The only silverware he was missing was the Norman Brookes Challenge Cup - the trophy given to the winner of the Australian Open men’s singles.
Competing in his first ever Melbourne final, the world No. 1 downed Djokovic in four sets to become only the ninth man in history to secure tennis’s career ‘grand slam’.
The Spaniard is the first man to do so since the Serb claimed the first of his three French Open titles in 2016. At 22, Alcaraz is the youngest man in history to win each of the men’s game’s major championships.
