Anthony Joshua knocks out Jake Paul in dominant win
In Friday’s bout in Miami, the former heavyweight champion knocked out the YouTuber-turned-boxer in the sixth round.

Although in boxing nothing is ever guaranteed - that’s the beauty of the sport - Anthony Joshua (29-4, 25 KO) did exactly what most expected. A thunderous right hand put Jake Paul (12-1, 7 KO) to sleep in front of a packed Kaseya Center in Miami. The British star controlled the fight with ease, shutting down another attempt by the YouTuber‑turned‑fighter to prove he’s “a real boxer.” Instead, Paul suffered the first knockout loss of his career. Joshua ended the night in the sixth round of a scheduled eight, crushing Paul’s hopes.
AJ too much for JP
Jake was originally slated to face Gervonta Davis (30-0-1, 28 KO), but Davis was pulled from the event after being accused of domestic violence by his child’s mother. Against Davis, Paul would have held major advantages in height and weight (Davis at 5’5” vs. Paul at 6’1”, with the bout contracted at 195 pounds). The opponent switch flipped the script entirely. Suddenly he was staring at Joshua - a nearly 6’6” former unified heavyweight champion who looks carved from granite. It was a massive challenge, and ultimately an immovable wall.
And what everyone predicted, happened - though it took a bit longer than expected. Joshua quickly established control of the center of the ring, solid and unshakeable. Paul circled, feinting, darting in and out, but never truly engaging. Joshua remained patient and let the first meaningful shots go, while Paul tried looping rights to close the distance, none of which posed any real danger. Logan Paul, working his brother’s corner, could offer little more than moral support. The miracle Jake needed simply wasn’t on the table. He kept trying to lure AJ into a distance fight - his only real path - but the gap between them was staggering.
Paul landed a clean left hand at one point, only for Joshua to respond with a short, sharp combination. The Brit stalked him, forcing clinches and making the referee step in as Paul repeatedly grabbed for survival. By the fourth round, Paul was back on the canvas during a scramble to stay upright. His jab flickered here and there as he tried to frustrate Joshua and keep him from stepping into range. That was the entire plan: keep distance at all costs. Joshua began pressing forward with more authority, shaking his head when Paul complained of a low blow after another trip to the mat.
Joshua finishes Paul off
By the fifth, Paul looked exhausted. He suffered two knockdowns and took increasingly heavy shots to the head, capped by a punishing left hook to the body as Joshua shifted into a higher gear.
The sixth round was the breaking point. Paul could barely stay upright. Joshua dropped him moments after the bell with a left followed by a right against the ropes. Paul mocked, playing it off, but it was obvious the punches hurt. Joshua continued the assault and then landed the crushing right hand that ended everything.
