However, World No.1 golfer Scottie Scheffler and Ireland’s Shane Lowry have managed to maintain their composure and share the lead after each scoring a two-under-par 70. Scheffler, who won the 2022 Masters, got off to a great start with a 16-foot birdie putt at the 10th hole. He followed up with a bogey at the 11th but quickly recovered with birdies at the par-5 12th and par-4 13th, then sank a 15-foot birdie at the 15th. He then tapped in for birdie at the par-5 16th and closed with back-to-back pars. Lowry, who won the 2019 British Open, also played an impressive game, scoring two birdies and no bogeys throughout the round.

Reigning US Open champion Wyndham Clark was not too far behind, standing in third place with a score of 208. Other players in contention include Americans Will Zalatoris and Russell Henley and Japan’s Hideki Matsuyama, with a score of 209 each. Rory McIlroy, the four-time major winner from Northern Ireland, is also still in the hunt, scoring a 68 that included a back-nine 30, with a total score of 211. McIlroy’s highlight of the round was an unprecedented monster drive off the par 4 10th hole. However, the Australian players in the field are struggling to keep up, with Cam Davis being the best placed at even par.

Scheffler and Lowry were among six players who shared the 36-hole lead. They stayed patient during the gusty conditions in roller-coaster rounds. The tournament’s final round will be exciting, with these top golfers competing for the championship title.
