Australian Open 2023 schedule and format: dates, games, times, bracket
The Grand Slam season kicks off on Monday in Melbourne, Australia, at the Australian Open. Here is everything you need to know about the tournament
The first tennis Grand Slam of the year, Australia Open 2023, is getting closer by the day and everyone’s attention will shift to Melbourne starting Sunday, Jan. 15.
The tournament, which will take place at Melbourne Park, will conclude on Sunday, January 29 with the men’s singles final, as the women’s singles final will be played the night before.
How does the Australia Open work?
The Australian Open draw works the same as every other Grand Slam tournament.
Unseeded players are randomly set across the bracket with the two top-ranked opponents placed at opposite ends to secure they don’t face each other until the final. The seeded players remaining are then randomly drawn to determine the entirety of first-round matches as well as the overall tournament schedule.
The seeds and draws of the 2023 tournament have already been established, setting the stage for tennis players to compete for a pool of $76.5 million in prize money.
