Avalanche sweep Edmonton aside to secure Stanley Cup final berth
Colorado Avalanche clinched a ticket to the Stanley Cup finals after they overcame Edmonton again with a 4-0 series win
Colorado Avalanche sealed their ticket to North American Ice Hockey League (NHL) final by inflicting a fourth successive defeat on Edmonton Oilers on Monday with the game ending 6-5 overtime with Finnish player Artturi Lehkonen bagging the dramatic winner to seal the win.
The Avalanche are now in the finals for the first time since 2001, the year when they claimed their last Stanley Cup win. Colorado will now face the winner of the duel between two-time champions Tampa Bay and New York Rangers as the Avalanche look to bag their third Stanley Cup.
The NY Rangers are currently 2-1 against the Tampa Bay Lightning in the Eastern Conference Final in the best of seven series.
