Benn Eubank to finally happen next year

After Chris Eubank’s victory over Kamil Szeremeta, longtime rival Conor Benn jumped into the ring to throw down the gauntlet.

Conor Benn and Chris Eubank Jr. have been circling each other for what feels like an eternity, with their fight falling apart at the last minute last year. Now, it seems the stars may finally align in May 2025 for the much-anticipated clash between these two sons of British boxing royalty.

The animosity between Benn and Eubank Jr. simmered again last night after Eubank, fresh off a victory over Kamil Szeremeta in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, was confronted by Benn in the ring. The encounter was fiery, as expected, with the two exchanging words, pushing their rivalry back into the spotlight. Both men have their fathers' legacies hanging over them - Conor Benn, son of Nigel Benn, and Chris Eubank Jr., carrying the name of his legendary father. A match between these two isn’t just about settling their personal grudge but also a continuation of a decades-old rivalry that defined British boxing in the 1990s.

The potential fight in May is being driven by Saudi boxing promoter Turki Alalshikh, who seems eager to make this showdown happen in Riyadh. Alalshikh, fresh from hosting the four-belt unification fight between Artur Beterbiev and Dmitry Bivol, expressed his enthusiasm for the Benn-Eubank fight. “May is the month I have in mind,” Alalshikh said, adding fuel to the fire of speculation that Saudi Arabia will host another blockbuster night of boxing.

Benn, undefeated with a 23-0 record, hasn’t fought since February, and the long layoff might force him to consider a tune-up bout before taking on Eubank. At 28, Benn is seven years younger than Eubank Jr., but with Eubank’s experience - he boasts a 34-3 record, with 25 knockouts - the younger fighter may want to sharpen his skills before the biggest fight of his career.

On the other side, Eubank Jr., who has bounced back from a knockout loss to Liam Smith with back-to-back wins, is riding high. His performance against Szeremeta was dominant, ending with a stoppage that showcased the veteran’s power. Eubank has been vocal about wanting this fight and made it clear that he’s ready whenever Benn is. But time waits for no one in boxing, and a May date leaves enough room for both men to either fight again or wait for the big payday in the Middle East.

Whether either fighter chooses to step into the ring before May remains uncertain, but all eyes are on this long-awaited showdown. It’s not just about the title, the money, or even personal pride - it’s about living up to their fathers’ names and proving who truly carries the next generation’s torch in British boxing. Finally, the stage seems set for Benn vs. Eubank Jr. to happen, and it’s shaping up to be a fight neither man can afford to lose.
