The 2023 Billie Jean King Cup Finals are underway with 12 nations involved from 7-12 November in Seville, Spain. The final week of major women’s tennis in 2023 is taking place in Seville for the first time.

Czechia will play Canada on Saturday for a place in the 2023 Billie Jean King Cup final after victory over USA. Barbora Krejcikova and Katerina Siniakova won 6-3 7-5 against American duo Danielle Collins and Taylor Townsend to advance in Andalusia.

“It’s tough to be unbeatable because it’s impossible, but I’m proud of how we play and how long we are playing, because it’s not easy,” said Siniakova.

“Everyone wants to beat us, and they are coming and trying to find things. I wouldn’t say our partnership is natural. You just need to work hard and we both like practicing and trying to improve ourselves, which is a big part.

“I was very happy when we sealed the winning point today. It was a really good match and I was really excited and happy that we finished it and with the way we played.”

The defeat sees the United States exit the finals and miss out on the possibility of winning a 19th Billie Jean Cup title.

Slovenia lost 2-1 to Kazakhstan but still advanced from Group B and had the best sets win-loss record of the three teams in their group. In the semi-final, they will play against Group D winners Italy.
