The 126th Boston Marathon is back, after two years of covid-19 postponements.
With the usual start time and the usual day, the Boston race is bringing together 30,000 athletes to tackle a 26.2-mile course from Hopkinton to the finish line on Boylston Street in Copley Square on Monday, April 18.
The race will start off with military marchers at 6:00 a.m. ET, followed by the men’s and women’s wheelchair division and handcycles before continuing with the para-athletics divisions and a few more waves of thousands of runners.
What time does the Boston Marathon race start? When does each group start running?
The men’s wheelchair starts off the day at 9:02 a.m. ET and women’s wheelchair a few minutes after, at 9:05 a.m. Elite men and women then follow at 9:37 am and 9:45 am. The first Wave kicks off at 10 a.m. followed by three more, with the last one going off at 11:15 am.

What time does TV coverage for the 2022 Boston Marathon start? How to watch the race on TV?
The 2022 Boston marathon airs locally on TV on CBS Boston’s WBZ-TV (channel 4) at 9 am and nationally on USA Network at 7:30 am ET. “WBZ This Morning” will start coverage at 4:30 a.m.
Viewers with a cable subscription can stream the race online via NBC Sports and the NBC Sports app using the login credentials from their cable provider. CBS Boston will also stream for viewers in the area.
