Boxing legend Mike Tyson makes a surprising statement and reveals who his hero is

One of the fearest boxers of all time, Mike Tyson, has admitted he has a hero in the ‘sweet science, but who is it?

2023 is the year of boxing. Quite a few great fights have already taken place and there are still some others that are scheduled to be held in the upcoming months.

Terence Crawford has been mentioned in all the headlines since he dismantled Errol Spence Jr. last Saturday in a fight that was expected to be way closer.

The Omaha-bred superstar became the undisputed welterweight king and the pound-for-pound No. 1 fighter after stopping The Truth in the ninth round via TKO.

Before the fight, Tyson predicted that Crawford would emerge victorious thanks to his boxing IQ and versatile, counterpunching style, which ended up giving Spence Jr. plenty of problems.

Mike Tyson has a hero

Crawford probably is on Mike Tyson’s list of favorite boxers, especially after his last display of skills and power at the T-Mobile Arena, in Las Vegas.

However, Iron Mike has revealed that Jake Paul is his hero, praising the Cleveland native’s dedication and sacrifice since he started his boxing career.

“He’s not a villain, he’s an anti-hero, not a villain. Listen, he did more for boxing than some champions did. I’m a fan of people that know how to put asses in the seats. Those are the guys I look up to”, Tyson said on Jake Paul’s Untold Netflix documentary series.

“You’re entertaining us. You’re the champ. You’re my hero”, he added.

Tyson considers that Paul is “saving boxing” by trying to make the sport more popular, considering the millions of followers that Paul has on social media.

But it’s not the first time that Tyson praises Paul’s presence in the boxing world. In 2020, during a press conference for his exhibition bout against Roy Jones Jr., he already had good words for Jake.

“Now we got these YouTubers, 20 million subscribers? Boxing is coming back thanks to these YouTube boxers”, he said then.

Paul will face UFC legend Nate Diaz on Saturday in a 10-round boxing clash. The Problem Child will be looking to bounce back from his last and only defeat in his young career to Tommy Fury, who got his hand raised via split decision.
