WNBA star Brittney Griner has been in the custody of Russian police for 118 days now after allegedly carrying hashish oil cartridges at the Moscow airport. And while there have been various public efforts to bring the 31-year-old basketball champion back to the United States, her pre-trial detention has just been extended for another 18 days — until July 2.

According to Russian state media outlet TASS, the court has extended the case for three weeks, keeping Griner in custody until at least next month; Griner faces charges that could lead up to a 10-year sentence.

The Phoenix Mercury star’s colleagues in the WNBA have pushed for the release of Griner, as the NBA and WNBA also joined forces to free the two-time Olympic Gold medalist by putting her number and initials on every court league-wide. Several players have spoken with the media in an attempt to reach the U.S. government, while Griner’s wife specifically addressed U.S. president Joe Biden calling for a greater response.

Even though Griner was found to be “wrongfully detained” in early May, there hasn’t been any obvious efforts to bring her home.
