Brooks Koepka’s beef with Bryson DeChambeau explained: is the feud over?

The PGA Championship has thrown us another tasty matchup, by pairing notorious rivals Brooks Koepka and Bryson DeChambeau in round three.

Their on-again/off-again feud has its roots in Koepka’s annoyance with DeChambeau’s slow play in the 2019 Dubai Desert Classic. It continued largely behind the scenes through 2020, but burst onto the world stage with a now infamous eye-roll given by Koepka during a Golf Channel interview back in 2021. Koepka’s face was turned into a meme and quickly went viral, causing fans to quickly take sides.

The players have clashed and made up several times, often leading people to wonder just how much of it is real. But it would seem that the two have a genuine dislike for one another, even if they are both able to remain civilized and professional.

Both players controversially signed up with LIV Golf last summer, largely leaving the hoo-ha to one side. While things have appeared to be calm of late between the two, all is not forgotten, with Bryson DeChambeau taking a cheeky swipe at his old nemesis on social media, causing Koepka to threaten, albeit with his tongue planted firmly in his cheek, to revive the feud.

The golf public can only hope. All eyes will be on the pair as they tee it up at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday. Will sparks fly? Will eyes roll? We’ll have to see if Koepka and DeChambeau are on their best behaviour. Tune in and find out.
