Can Frank Martin pull off a massive upset against Gervonta Davis?

The Detroit native will take on one of the biggest superstars in boxing today, but he’s confident enough ahead of Saturday’s fight.

The Detroit native will take on one of the biggest superstars in boxing today, but he’s confident enough ahead of Saturday’s fight.

Boxers start their careers sharing the same goal, becoming world champions someday. However, only a few chosen ones make it possible.

Frank Martin will have that opportunity this weekend when he takes on Gervonta Davis in the biggest fight of his career. Martin will step into the ring against Tank looking to win the WBA lightweight belt and pull off one of the biggest upsets in recent times at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada.

it will be the first PPV event for the Detroit native, who will try to remain undefeated and record the 19th win as a professional (18-0, 12 KOs).

The 2016 Golden Gloves winner at super lightweight last fought in July 2023, defeating Artem Harutyunyan via unanimous decision.

Some boxers believe Martin will be Davis’ toughest test, while Errol Spence Jr. didn’t hesitate to say he will surprise the Baltimore fighter and get his hand raised.

Martin, looking to beat Davis and conquer the world

An athlete without confidence may fall short of his objectives. In boxing, that usually translates into failure.

Martin has proven he has the skills to give anyone problems, but also the belief of being the better boxer on fight night. He will face a fighter who’s considered the face of boxing by many, but that doesn’t impress him.

I feel like this is one of those moments where all the hard work I put in is paying off. This just feels like a life-changing moment”, Martin said during his media workout.

“I believe in myself, even if the world is against me. It’s just time for me to show up and show out. We all know what Tank brings, but a lot of guys don’t know what I bring,” Martin said. “They know a little bit of it, but they don’t know the full arsenal I have”, he continued.

“We know Tank is explosive and fast. He’s got it all, but on fight night, the world will see that I’ve got it all, too”, he concluded.

Davis, who possesses a 93% knockout ratio, will return to the ring after 14 months without competing.
